The life-sized bronze statue of former Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, located at the Effia Nkwanta roundabout in Sekondi-Takoradi, has been demolished under mysterious circumstances. Unveiled in November 2024, the statue was vandalized overnight, leading to irreparable damage.

Photos from the scene reveal the statue's head severed and lying on the ground, with the pedestal also suffering significant damage. This incident has sparked questions about the motives behind the act, especially since the statue had faced controversy since its installation. Local residents had previously called for its removal.

Despite promises from local authorities to improve security around the statue after earlier reports of damage in December 2024, it has now been completely destroyed. The remaining pedestal is heavily scratched and cracked, marking a troubling chapter in the community's relationship with the statue.
