Congress (NDC), Justice Srem Sai, has raised concerns about the legitimacy of three New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament-elect. He claims their declaration as winners in the Okaikwei Central, Tema Central, and Techiman South constituencies is unconstitutional.
Justice Srem Sai announced on Monday, January 6, that the NDC plans to appeal to the Supreme Court and file a certiorari to stop their swearing-in. Speaking on Citi FM’s Breakfast Show, he compared the issue to the 2020 Hohoe election involving John-Peter Amewu, stressing that the current situation is similar and equally flawed.
The three NPP candidates—Patrick Yaw Boamah, Charles Forson, and Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah—were declared winners after a court-ordered collation of results in their respective areas.
“We don’t understand how anyone can swear in these candidates when the process was clearly unconstitutional,” Srem Sai said.
The NDC hopes the court will step in before the swearing-in ceremony takes place.
